Our technical experts are often instructed by courts to give testimony at criminal and civil trials. They provide technical support for the police and public prosecutors by identifying the causes of fires.

As fire investigators, our experts also identify new fire hazards and can suggest appropriate fire protection measures. Thanks to these findings, fire safety in Upper Austria can constantly be improved.

The BVS Brandverhütungsstelle für OÖ is commissioned by the state government to compile the fire statistics for Upper Austria.

Fires with damage amounting to more than € 2,000 are classified by their cause and listed in the annual fire statistics. If the analysis of these statistics reveals trends, this information is used to implement targeted fire prevention measures.

The fire statistics of the Austrian fire prevention bodies are a compilation of the statistics from the individual federal states.

The findings are used as the basis for developing fire protection measures, for sharing information and for the fire prevention bodies’ public relations work.
